Life has been pretty hectic recently. I’m having a baby, my fourth! It’s all a little surreal, and alongside family life, the studio has been busier than ever.
One of the most exciting developments this year has been welcoming more artists to Ovenstone. Together, we’ve decided to create Ovenstone Studios, a collective of artists working from this wonderful creative space. It’s an exciting new chapter for all of us and, hopefully, the start of something that will continue to grow. In time, we’d love to host more events, workshops and opportunities for people to connect with the artists working here.
Before all of that, though, we have some exciting news.
For two weekends this summer, Ovenstone Studios will be taking part in East Neuk Open Studios. Our studio doors will be open to the public, giving visitors the chance to step behind the scenes and see where the magic happens. You’ll be able to explore the studios, meet the artists, learn about our different creative practices and discover the stories behind the work we create.
As many of you know, my own studio is home to Pillar & Taper Candle Studio, where I spend my days hand-dipping taper candles and pouring scented candles using traditional methods. During Open Studios, I’ll be busy making candles, welcoming visitors and answering any questions you might have, so you’ll get to see first-hand how the candle-making process works from start to finish.
There will also be candles available to purchase, along with tea and coffee for anyone stopping by for a chat.
Whether you’re a long-time supporter or simply curious to see what goes on behind the studio doors, we’d love to welcome you. Open Studios is a fantastic opportunity to meet local artists, discover new work and experience the creativity that makes the East Neuk such a special place.
